Danika Goveas
Undergraduate Student
Étudiante de premier cycle
Danika Goveas is a fourth-year undergraduate student studying Health Sciences at the University of Ottawa. She is currently working on her honours research project under the supervision of Dr. Sonia Wesche and Dr. Eric Crighton. Her project will be looking at factors that affect food costs in six communities in the Inuvialuit Settlement Region. Her interest in Indigenous health arose from one of her undergraduate courses that showcased public health challenges directly affect Inuit communities across Inuit Nunangat, after which she decided to get involved in infectious disease research. After completing her undergraduate degree, she hopes to pursue her Master’s in Epidemiology with a focus on Indigenous health. Outside of research, Danika works as a Student Ambassador, providing campus tours to prospective students and as a Live-in mentor, offering guidance to first year students living in residence. Danika strives to be a life-long learner and is always looking for ways to connect with other individuals.
